Buying your first vibrator is exciting -- and possibly a little overwhelming. There are dozens of shapes, dozens of materials, and dozens of intensity levels. This guide cuts through the noise.
There are three main categories for beginners:
Material: Medical-grade silicone is the gold standard. Body-safe, non-porous, easy to clean. Avoid jelly or TPE toys unless clearly labeled as body-safe.
Intensity levels: Look for a toy with multiple speed settings. Starting slow is always better than getting overwhelmed.
Set aside time when you will not be interrupted. Start with the lowest setting. Use water-based lubricant -- it makes everything more comfortable. There is no right or wrong way to use a vibrator.
Always use water-based lube with silicone toys. Oil-based degrades silicone.
Clean your vibrator with warm water and toy cleaner before and after each use. Store it in a dedicated pouch or container.
